The film is very powerful and includes stark examples of the trauma, violence, and not helpful attitudes toward Indigenous people. Pete feels it is important to create a safe space for an honest, candid, and respectful conversation. Much of the content may be new to many people, which may also contribute feelings of cognitive dissonance. Processing and debriefing the documentary will help people have a better understanding of the issues and dynamics stemming from this doctrine of discovery that still impact Indigenous and all peoples today and how we can all move forward in a good way. He would also like to show a PowerPoint and share some resources as part of the session, as well.
